ABOUT DELANEY ROGERS

I have always had a deep love for story telling and listening to others - being in the field of journalism creates the perfect mix to utilize both. From a young age, I understood the value that others deserve to be heard and seen. I would get lost in my own world observing my surroundings and communities, wondering how I could portray what I see in a way that is powerful and true. I feel at my best when I am connecting with someone, giving them a safe space and platform to elevate their voice. That creativity and empathy manifested itself into wanting to have a career in being a voice for the voiceless and asking questions. The thought of being able to give communities platforms and connect with others ignites my love for this field and desire to continue reporting. I am a first year journalism masters student at Michigan State University. My studies within high school and college have equipped me with broad understandings on how the world of journalism, more specifically broadcast, operates. I am fortunate to have a variety of experience working in radio, tv news and video production. I have learned to utilize equipment to put on broadcasts such as cameras, teleprompters, and microphones. I feel comfortable in any journalism role (MMJ/reporter, producer, writer, camera operator, technical director, anchor, etc.) My studies have challenged me to feel confident to film and write a package under deadlines and pressure. Within Impact 89FM, Michigan State University and WILX News 10, I have been able to harness my skills in recording/producing/editing video and audio, write in AP Style, and be proficient in software\'s like Premiere Pro, Eduis, Avid, Lumafusion, Word Press, ENPS, down Creator and Transistor.
