ABOUT DELAENAM AKAHOHO
Originally from the small town of Okeechobee, Florida, Delaenam received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida. She continued to earn her MPH with a dual concentration in Epidemiology and Maternal and Child Health at USF’s College of Public Health. Delaenam began her public health work supporting efforts in address the rising rates of black infant and maternal mortality in Hillsborough County with a focus on doula support, postpartum mental health, and improving data quality and data infrastructure.With experience in health equity-centered work, data storytelling, and moving the needle in local and state-level public health work, Delaenam\'s practice is truly her passion. She hopes to continue to use her training and lived experience to address the social determinants of health in a way that influences programmatic and policy-based decisions for those that have been historically disadvantaged.
