About Del Renigar
I joined Rio Tinto after stints at GE, the White House, the Commerce Department and the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson, which have given me 25 years of diverse and unique experiences serving in a broad range of external affairs capacities. In many ways I feel like I have “seen and done it all,” working on the most complex issues in the toughest markets in the US and globally. I am inspired to bring all this experience to Rio Tinto, a leading global supplier of the critical minerals, metals, and rare earths that we need for defense, energy transition, manufacturing resilience, and supply chain security in the US and around the world.I have served in key leadership positions at the highest levels of government and the private sector, tackling challenges and opportunities involving aviation, finance, healthcare, infrastructure, media, oil and gas, power, renewables, and transportation. As a recognized expert in strategic policy and advocacy and an experienced problem solver, I position business as a trusted advisor to governments at the state, local, federal and international levels on policy, regulatory, and thought leadership issues to achieve key commercial and governmental priorities and to anticipate and manage risk. • My unique professional path serving in a number of roles with a variety of institutions has provided me with deep visibility to management, business, law, policy, and thought leadership• My multi-disciplinary career has provided me hands-on experience in managing issues and executing projects at the local, state, federal and global levels across multiple sectors • I have been tasked with complex challenges in both the public and private sectors, where I have been given the opportunity to synthesize solutions and provide counsel to the highest levels of business and government • I have focused on creating collaborative, respectful, and efficient teams where everyone has the opportunity to do their best work on priority issues
