ABOUT SAMEIR DEIF
I work at the intersection of electromagnetics research and industrial simulation—bridging academic rigor with real-world engineering challenges in signal integrity, power integrity, and RF/microwave systems. My background spans both sides of this divide. I hold a Ph.D. in Electromagnetics from the University of Alberta, where I developed a patented chipless RFID system for pipeline integrity monitoring and published multiple papers on sensor design and RF circuits. That research—conducted in collaboration with Enbridge and other industry partners—taught me how to translate theoretical EM principles into practical, field-deployed solutions.Since 2021, I\'ve worked in verification and validation at Ansys (now Synopsys), ensuring the accuracy and reliability of electromagnetic simulation tools like HFSS, SIwave, and Q3D. I design test plans for new solver features, maintain automated regression frameworks across platforms, and collaborate with OEMs including Apple and Google to validate high-speed designs and power integrity workflows. My work helps ensure that simulation tools perform correctly for the engineers who depend on them.I\'ve also spent years teaching electromagnetics and RF design at the University of Alberta and King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), earning multiple teaching awards. I believe deeply in making complex technical concepts accessible—whether in a classroom, a test plan, or a technical conversation. What drives me is the challenge of making electromagnetic simulation more accurate, more accessible, and more useful for engineers solving real problems. Whether it\'s validating a new HFSS feature, designing an antenna array, or debugging a signal integrity issue, I\'m motivated by work that connects theory to practice.I\'m open to conversations about- Signal and power integrity in high-speed systems- EM solver verification and validation methodologies- RF/microwave sensor design and implementation- Academic-industry collaboration opportunities- Roles in verification, SI/PI engineering, or researchFeel free to reach out—I\'m always interested in connecting with people working on hard problems in electromagnetics.
