About Deidre Alexander
Deidre Alexander is a native of Jackson, MS. She holds a master’s in Public School Administration from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Jackson State University. She is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Mississippi, where she is researching the impact and preparation of Black women educators in K-12 education. She created Women Educators of Color and with the Mississippi Department of Education, hosted the state\'s first Women Educators of Color Conference. Deidre now serves as an instructional assistant at Columbia University, is a fellow for the Handbook Policy Institute for Research on Teachers of Color, and is a Senior Leadership Fellow with Higher Heights - a national political leadership fund to harness Black women’s power and leadership potential.
