My journey towards pursuing a career in immunology began during my undergraduate studies, where I delved deep into courses such as Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry. These courses not only provided me with a strong foundation in the fundamental principles of immunology but also fueled my curiosity to explore the intricate mechanisms of the immune response. As I progressed through my studies, I found myself drawn towards research projects that allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. I had a diverse research experience in IISc, such as research projects involving the development of a recombinant protein-based mRNA candidate immunogen for different strains of SARS-CoV-2, to synthesize a mutant variant of an antimicrobial peptide to make it non-hemolytic while retaining its antimicrobial activity etc. Additionally, I conducted studies on the effect of ALS-associated C90RF72 repeats on cellular oxidized RNA levels and the impact of oxidized RNA on the phase separation of G3BP1 protein. These projects not only honed my laboratory skills but also deepened my understanding of the intricate interplay between host immunity and infectious agents. Currently, as an Int Ph.D. student at IISc Bangalore, I am working on vaccine development with a focus on immunogen design and peptide biochemistry. I have also participated in various national and international conferences where I presented my research projects during my bachelor’s and showcased my leadership, presentation, and teamwork skills. My skill set includes molecular cloning, cell culture, ELISA, flow cytometry, and other molecular biology techniques, as well as solid-phase peptide synthesis, HPLC, and computational biology tools for data analysis. I have also gained dry lab experience in molecular docking and simulations, further enhancing my research capabilities.In addition to my academic and research endeavors, I have actively engaged in co-curricular activities that have enriched my overall learning experience. I have qualified nearly all entrances in India for master’s and Int PhD. admission with decent ranks and qualified interviews for prestigious institutes such as IISER Pune, IISER Bhopal, IISC Bangalore and IIT Bombay. These experiences have not only broadened my perspective, but have also instilled in me a strong sense of determination and perseverance in pursuing my goals in the field of immunology. Actively seeking for collaborations and projects for both wet and dry lab, and to leverage my expertise for public benefit.
