The project focused on a comprehensive study of the Parker Solar Wind Solution under the supervision of Dr. Ankush Bhaskar Tukaram at the Space Physics Laboratory, VSSC, ISRO. The objective was to understand the dynamics of the solar wind through Parker’s theoretical framework. The work involved deriving the governing equations of an isothermally expanding, spherically symmetric solar corona using principles of fluid dynamics and mass conservation. Numerical analysis of the resulting equation revealed a family of solutions, among which only one passing through the critical point was identified as physically meaningful. This solution describes the transition of the solar wind from subsonic to supersonic speeds. The analysis was supported by insights from observational missions, particularly the Parker Solar Probe, with attention to its instrumentation (FIELDS, SWEAP, ISʘIS, and WISPR) and their role in validating solar wind models. The internship combined theoretical modeling with an appreciation of current space-based observational strategies, enhancing understanding of heliophysical phenomena.
