About Deepankar Gupta

I am a Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence undergraduate at The National Institute of Engineering, Mysuru (CGPA: 9.13), with a strong focus on machine learning, AI systems, and data engineering. I am currently a Research Intern under the NIE–FH Dortmund International Collaboration, where I develop high-accuracy computer vision-based solutions for smart city initiatives with a focus on deploying the research backed solutions, end-to-end integrated with live CCTV feeds. My work is supported by a research grant from the NIE–Centre for Research and Development, and I am co-authoring a research paper as part of this collaboration.I enjoy building systems from the ground up. Some of my notable projects include implementing a 124M-parameter GPT-2 model from scratch, designing a complete financial ETL and OLAP pipeline on AWS, and creating production-grade ML applications using tools like Docker, GitHub Actions, MLflow, DVC, and AWS RDS. I’m particularly passionate about understanding the mathematical foundations and systems design behind modern AI models rather than treating them as black boxes.I have cleared the SEBI Research Analyst certification, solved over 500 DSA problems, and will be joining Fidelity Investments as a Summer Intern. Alongside my technical work, I serve as the Editorial Lead at the Anveshan Research Club, where I blend technical expertise with clear communication.My long-term goal is to build impactful, scalable AI systems, with an emphasis on research-driven, application-focused innovation.
