ABOUT DEEPAK FARMAH

I work at the intersection of industry, academia and innovation, where the real challenge isn’t generating ideas, but turning them into solutions that genuinely change systems, behaviours and outcomes. Much of my work focuses on challenge-led innovation: understanding complex sector problems, aligning stakeholders around shared intent, and building practical, scalable responses that deliver long-term impact.A recurring theme in my career has been helping organisations move beyond incremental change, supporting leaders to rethink their value chains, engage more effectively with research, and build the internal capabilities required to adapt in fast-moving environments. This has included work around commercialising interdisciplinary research, unlocking the value of intellectual property, and designing models that allow organisations to diversify, evolve and remain strategically relevant. As Director, my focus has been on a broader systemic question: how the UK builds the innovation pipelines and skills ecosystems required to support emerging technologies and national industrial ambitions. That work has involved contributing to the development of shared frameworks, influencing national conversations around skills and talent, and helping shape how we think about workforce readiness for the skills transition.Across everything I do, I’m interested in the same underlying challenge: how we design environments, cultural, structural and strategic, where innovation is not an aspiration, but a sustained capability.
