Supporting Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry as Research Analysis Aunit for developing manufacturing ecosystem. Major work include: • Tariff and Trade Data Analysis of all the Tariff lines pertaining to DPIIT to gauge India’s export performance and monitor imports.• Conducting in-depth analysis and stakeholder consultations for DPIIT Products, witnessing a significant surge in imports to identify the key reasons for import surge and suggesting the way forward for the same.• Providing inputs on Preferred Tariff Staging/offer list and Product Specific Rules of Origin for proposed Free Trade Agreements, including India-EU FTA, India-Canada CEPA, India-Australia CECA etc. • Assistance in Product Development which includes engagement with various Industry players, Associations and Government Departments/Ministries.• Preparation of brief reports on the performance of Indian industries including aluminium, copper, steel etc, through qualitative and quantitative research.• Finalising the DPIIT Master list (list of HS Codes pertaining to DPIIT) and mapping of more than HS Codes (at 8-digit level) to their respective Ministries/Departments to address the ambiguity in the ownership of HS Codes among various Ministries/Departments.• Assessment and Examination of various industry issues of DPIIT Products, related to Tariff and Non-Tariff Measures, Inverted Duty Structure, Quality Control Orders etc.
