About Deena Hitzke
Dr. Deena Gayle Hitzke is a national public speaker, educator, and research scholar, seeking to advance her career in the fields of non-profit management, counseling, grant writing, clinical research, and education. Currently, Dr. Hitzke is the Director of Elder Services at the Administration of Resources and Choices; A non-profit in Tucson Arizona that provides support and advocacy for older adults, distressed homeowners, and people seeking permanent, stable housing. ARC has just enabled Dr. Hitzke to also start a separate part-time private practice, in efforts to obtain independent licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, with plans to expand ARC\'s services for elders to include professional psychotherapy. Dr. Hitzke brings 26 years of behavioral health experience and over 30 years of advocacy experience to ARC, and recently advanced in her position as the organization\'s team lead. She holds an Ed.D in Transformational Leadership, a MA in Professional Counseling, and an MA in Human Resources, in addition to certifications in Celebrancy, Reminiscence and Life Review, Counseling for Empowerment, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Self Realization Therapy.

The Director of Elder Services Programs is responsible for all operations and grant management related to ARC\'s Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funded Late Life Domestic and Elder Abuse program, Pima County funded Elder Shelter (Now Elder Placement) Project, Sundt/Pima County FEMA Client Assistance Program, and Housing and Financial Counseling components of ARC\'S HUD Certified Foreclosure Prevention, Homebuyer Education, Reverse Mortgage, and Home Loan Modification programs.In addition to managing these programs, the Elder Services Director provides professional coaching and advocacy services (soon to include professional counseling), including developing a comprehensive Safe Actions For Empowerment (SAFE) plan for older adult safety, care, and sustainable food and housing security.The Elder Services Director further functions as a team lead when the Executive Director is unavailable, providing supervision, and assisting in agency-wide program development, implementation, and evaluation.
