ABOUT DECLAN CAREY
I’m genuinely excited to have started a new role as D365 Lead Solution Architect at The Pensions Regulator (TPR), based here in Brighton. Having just completed my first month, met my colleagues, and begun to get into the detail, it’s clear this is an organisation with meaningful purpose, interesting complexity, and real opportunity to make a difference.TPR presents a rare combination: nationally important outcomes, thoughtful people, and the chance to design modern, well-governed digital and data solutions at scale. I’m particularly energised by the architectural challenges ahead and the scope to apply technology in ways that are pragmatic, sustainable, and genuinely user-centred.Prior to joining TPR, I spent three and a half years at PwC as a Technical Solution Architect, specialising in the Microsoft ecosystem. My work spanned Power Platform, Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, Azure, SQL, Synapse Analytics, Fabric, Copilot, and OpenAI, delivering solutions across multiple sectors. I particularly enjoyed operating at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and emerging technology, especially exploring how Generative AI can be applied responsibly to real-world problems. Before PwC, I was Global Analytics and Data Architect at Trifast plc, an international manufacturing organisation with more than 30 sites worldwide. I led the global rollout of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations, Customer Engagement CRM, and Talent / HR), managed a small delivery team, and oversaw reporting solutions using Power BI and SSRS. Alongside this, I built internal automation and workflow solutions using Power Apps and Power Automate, and defined best practice approaches to architecture, data migration, and platform governance. At this stage of my career, I’m most motivated by roles that combine clear purpose, strong technical foundations, and the space to think properly about architecture, not just how to build systems, but how to make them last. TPR feels like exactly the right place for that next chapter.
