ABOUT DEBORAH MORGAN
I have 16 years of experience in the environmental sector, which have been focussed on support for oil and gas and renewables decommissioning projects and platform electrification projects. I have applied my knowledge of the latest guidance and legislation to numerous project management and secondment roles across the offshore energy industry within the UKCS, Australia and the Middle East.I am particularly active in the decommissioning industry and, have presented, participated in live panel discussion, and chaired workshops at the OEUK decommissioning conference (2021 and 2022) and at Decom Week (2023) on the topics of the energy transition and decarbonising decommissioning. I have also contributed to academic papers and press releases on various topics relating to the impacts of decommissioning on the environment. My particular interests are in emissions, platform electrification, cold-water reef formation, waste management and the long-term impacts of oil and gas infrastructure on the marine environment. My research experience spans glaciology, geochemistry, oceanography, geomorphology, sedimentology and marine biology. My PhD investigated the local climate of NW Scotland during the last glacial transition and placed this in context with modern day anthropogenic climate change.
