SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Prior to devoting her full attention to eDJe Inc, Deborah served as Associate Vice President of Innovation and Commercialization for the University of Alberta (UofA). There, she developed and implemented strategic initiatives that enhanced the capacity, culture, and success of research, innovation and commercialization at the UofA. As examples, she redesigned the UofA’s technology transfer office, secured funding to support early-stage R&D and tech-based startups, and developed a pre-accelerator program including incubator space to support academic innovators. She also worked with colleagues to establish numerous research centres and institutes at the UofA. Consulting initiatives accomplished through ‘eDJe’ include producing environmental scans and marketing strategies, creating product-costing and funding models, producing visionary proposals and budgets for new health system programs (e.g, cellular-based immunotherapy), producing medical manuscripts for publication, and advancing startups through regulatory challenges. COMMITMENT With the tenacity and resolve of a high-achiever that produces results, Deborah’s magic is in her ability to understand complex environments, identify opportunities, see what needs doing – and then do it. She is an excellent communicator and writer, and is adept at securing funding and partnerships. EDUCATION Deborah holds a clinical pharmacy degree (BSc. Pharm) and a PhD in immunology from the University of Alberta, and is an awarded educator in life sciences.
