About Deborah Bloom

My 15 years of experience developing programs, strategies, and initiatives that support students both domestically and abroad instill in me an ability to effectively lead teams and create transformative experiences for stakeholders. I bring enthusiasm, strategic thinking, and a passion for providing results. The current challenges of the pandemic ignited in me the ability to become even more innovative, inclusive, and mindful of collaborative platforms that streamline work.In all of my roles in higher education, I strive to find the intersection of how a student’s coursework, experiential learning, internships, and global experiences create meaning and define their success after college. I bring the same approach to guiding my teams and help them find fulfillment in their work. My experiences make me an effective collaborator committed to partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals for stakeholders. As a result of my practices I was able to lead Goddard College to a 6% better than predicted retention rate in the Spring of 2019; and at Champlain College I contributed to the offices ranking by the Institute ofInternational Education’s Open Doors Report as the 15th highest sender of students going abroad in our category. Additionally my experience in the Peace Corps in Bulgaria, locations in the Middle East, and the Caribbean I possess deep cultural competencies that I am passionate about bringing to all of my roles.Overall, I am an empathetic, action-oriented leader eager to engage teams and contribute to an institution’s shared goals I am always interested in and open to sharing best practices in the higher education and nonprofit sectors.
