ABOUT DEBORAH BERRY
I am an award-winning journalist with extensive experience in the business. I\'ve worked for several news organizations, including USA TODAY, Gannett News Service, Newsday, the Providence Journal, Knight-Ridder\'s Washington Bureau, the Times Herald Record and the Star-Democrat. I was part of the team at Newsday that won the Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the crash of TWA Flight 800. I was honored to be a Nieman Fellow (Class of 23) at Harvard University and that same year I was inducted into the University of Maryland Philip Merrill\'s Hall of Fame. Along the way, I\'ve also been honored to receive more than a dozen National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence Awards and several other awards. These days I\'m excited to be a journalism lecturer at The George Washington University and a reporting/writing coach at the University of Maryland. I\'m also a volunteer with the WABJ high school journalism workshop. I\'m passionate about helping teach the next generation of journalists.
