About Debora Monteiro

As a Career Counselor at Milford High School, I have over 15 years of experience in school counseling and social work, with a Master of Education in School Psychology and Online Post-Graduate Studies in Education. My mission is to provide academic skills support, career planning, and post-secondary application guidance to students and families, helping them achieve their college and career goals. I have a proven track record of supporting classes of 30-50 seniors and families, educating them about colleges, the college admissions process, trends, procedures, and testing, and completing all school report and mid-year report forms requested by colleges. I also meet with juniors and seniors, individually and in groups, to talk about their individual college choices and advise them on curricular choices, as needed. I have a strong background in adolescent therapy, crisis intervention, social emotional learning, child development, and group therapy, and I am fluent in Portuguese. I am passionate about empowering students to discover their strengths, interests, and aspirations, and to navigate the complex and competitive college and career landscape.
