About Debbie Durkee
From the heart of midtown Tulsa I help both buyers and sellers. I sell land, country estates, horse properties, cattle ranches, and rural properties where people can get away from their neighbors and enjoy the peace and privacy of country living. I also sell homes in the city and suburbs, because sometimes people who love the country decide to have a house in town because of the convenience and lower maintenance. Of course, affordability is always an issue too. I live in Tulsa, but my heart is in the country. I am aware of how difficult it is to find a REALTOR® who can show any property within a two-hour radius of Tulsa. To me, that is a perfectly normal commuting distance, because that\'\'s how I grew up. You see, my father sold oil field machinery all over the world. His business was based in New York City, because in 1940, that\'\'s where the export business was located. He rode 2 hours into the city on a commuter train and rode 2 hours out of the city every day when he wasn\'\'t overseas. For me, then, a long commute was normal. I had a wonderful, idyllic life growing up riding horses and bicycles in dairy country north of New York. Later, I went to school and worked in Albany, NY and Pittsburgh, PA. I know what the city and the suburbs are like. After coming to Tulsa in 1984 I have lived in downtown Tulsa, south Tulsa, Catoosa, Claremore, Broken Arrow, and now Tulsa again. I have even worked in Bartlesville. I used to board a horse in Bixby, and so I am pretty familiar with most of the areas in and around Tulsa. I know my way around pretty well and have made it a game to discover roads I have never been on before. Growing up, we used to trek all over western Connecticut on back roads. Daddy always pretended we were lost and so we would make sure to take \"emergency rations.\" I learned to love driving around exploring the countryside. Perhaps that is why I love selling real estate and helping people find remote places in the country. Some people have a house in town and a house in the country, but it takes more funds to afford to have others feed animals and pets at both properties. For others, a long commute is normal, because they enjoy taking care of animals, repairing fences, and doing the daily commute.
