ABOUT DEBBIE MENIRU

Hi, my name\'s Debbie and I\'m a London-based writer and curator. My writing leans into emotion, anecdote and humour to explore art as a deeply personal experience that reaches far beyond the walls of the gallery. On my website I post articles that explore questions like \'what does it feel like to hold hands in a museum?\' and \'how might we imagine growth differently?\' My writing has been published internationally, including by Hatje Cantz, Rizzoli, Tate, Hayward Gallery Publishing, CURA, Numéro Art and New Contemporaries. My article discussing art and communication,\'Fried yam in the museum\', is a set text on the Courtauld Institute of Art\'s MA Curating programme. As a curator, I have worked on exhibitions at organisations including the Hayward Gallery, Tate Modern, the Migration Museum and Somerset House. Most recently, I curated the South London Gallery\'s latest edition of \'The Conch\', worked on the acclaimed exhibition \'In the Black Fantastic\' at the Hayward Gallery, and curated outdoor installations by Jyll Bradley and Souad Abdelrasoul also at the Hayward.
