Our history is one that cannot be underestimated. Martinez was established in 1847 and became the home of the County seat in 1850. The famous naturalist John Muir called Martinez home until his passing in 1914. Martinez was also where Hall of Fame baseball player Joe DiMaggio was born. Pretty cool, right?
