@Rowans Hospice

The Rowans Hospice is a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. Established since 1994, they have helped more than patients and families across Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. As a volunteer I have worked mainly in the reception areas supporting the telephones and business administration tasks as well as supporting Trust and Grant applications on behalf of The Rowans Hospice. I also volunteer at a number of the fundraising events run by the hospice, either by participating at the event or helping run it.Through my volunteer hours I have successfully submitted several applications for a Community Service cash grant from IBM for the Rowans Hospice Programme resulting in over since I joined. Our most recent project applications supported raising funds for the \'Living Well Centre\' which opened in Oct 2016 in Purbrook near the Hospice as part of their 20th Anniversary activities and takes TRH further into the community. Rowans Living Well Centre is a brand new facility providing a relaxed and safe environment for people affected by life-limiting illnesses, their carers, partners and family members. I am now part of the Fareham and Portchester Fundraising support group and we both run and attend local events to raise money for the hospice.
