Ensuring the systematic development, conservation, and regulation of mineral resources in India including technical and regulatory functions, field inspections, and advisory roles to promote sustainable mining practices and compliance with mining laws and environmental standards. Key Roles and Responsibilities:*Mine Inspection and Regulation, conduct regular and systematic inspections of metalliferous (non-coal) mines to ensure compliance with the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, and rules made thereunder.* Monitor mining activities in accordance with approved mining plans and schemes.* Identify and report violations of mining laws and environmental norms.* Initiate legal proceedings and prefer court complaints for violations, as required.* Mineral Conservation and Development:* Promote the conservation of mineral resources and optimal utilization, including low-grade minerals and rejects.* Advise mine owners on the adoption of appropriate technology for prospecting, mining, and mineral beneficiation.* Contribute to the systematic development of mineral resources.* Environmental Protection in Mines:* Oversee and ensure the implementation of environmental protection measures in mining areas.* Conduct environmental studies related to mining operations.* Ensure compliance with environmental regulations pertinent to the mining industry.
