I served on a nonprofit board, and we held a fundraiser at a local art gallery in Ohio. As I checked out with my purchase, the board member managing the funds humiliated me in full view of a long line of patrons and the media. Later, I addressed the situation, and her response was that she just wanted to be the boss. I later learned there was a personal undercurrent she was battling.The turning point for me became clear when that board member was elected president; no one was willing to confront her or address the pertinent issues affecting leadership and accountability.
