WORK HISTORY
Chief, Dwr o & m Civil Maintenance Engineering Section @California Department of Water Resources
As a Section Manager for the Civil Maintenance Engineering Section B, I am currently responsible for managing over 385 miles long concrete-lined canal (California Aqueduct) and associated appurtenance structures between the Delta and Lake Perris. My team provides bi-yearly civil condition assessments by evaluating risks, assessing canal embankment stability by through and underseepage analyses, rapid drawdown analysis, seismic stability analysis (liquefaction and flow failure analyses), settlement analyses, hydro-compaction analysis, erosion analysis, subsidence analysis, etc. along with their mitigation alternatives such as complete rehabilitation of the canal embankments, construction of cutoff walls, rebuilding canal liners with geogrid and geo-fabric, landside drainage construction, relief well construction along with its drainage, compaction grouting, etc. Besides this, my team also coordinates the canal dive inspection for any seepage suction point (through the removal of grout sealant, cracking, or sliding of the concrete liners) at the waterside of the canal besides providing limited emergency response. We are currently on the verge of evaluating a comprehensive risk assessment of the canal embankment stability along with the mitigation alternatives.
