ABOUT DEAN SCHARNHORST
At United Community, I help clients identify and manage legal risk associated with the use of data and technology. Previously, I supported the commercial digital initiatives at Huntington Bank and worked inhouse at Truist (FKA BB & T), where I served as enterprise privacy counsel, started and grew the intellectual property program, and was lead counsel for our fintech investment group. I also restructured our contract template library and managed or co-managed various litigation matters with a large technology and/or branding element. Prior to my legal career, I held various roles in the software industry, including several startups. I was the founding CEO of Cambient, an IT consultancy that successfully raised outside funding and was later sold. I was the head of consulting at Symbolics (history\'s first dot-com), and I performed graduate and post-graduate research in computer science for NASA.
