ABOUT DEAN PARTHENIS

Strategic communicator. Versatile, collaborative, and trustworthy.I bring a people-focused, interdisciplinary approach to every role I take on — combining deep expertise in public relations, creative storytelling, and wide range of communications including how to incorporate organizational brand and marketing into all facets of communications. I’ve built a career helping organizations navigate complex communications challenges while strengthening internal teams and external relationships. I’ve led initiatives in media relations, internal communications, public affairs, issues and crisis management, emergency operations, and brand storytelling. I excel in many environments, including in high-stakes situations, and I’m known for my calm, thoughtful leadership and ability to deliver clear, consistent messaging and achieve key goals and metrics.I’m also a dedicated mentor and trainer, having coached teams across sectors in crisis communications, media relations, and emergency response protocols. My leadership is grounded in diplomacy, inclusion, and a belief in empowering others. And of course, I am always rolling up my sleeves to work on projects, plans and tasks.Lifelong learning and innovation is a core value of mine. I recently completed the Strategic Leadership Development Program at the Haskayne School of Business, and I hold a Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Research with specializations in Leading and Learning in a Digital Age, and Design Thinking for Innovation. Outside my core role, I’ve also pursued creative projects — most notably, designing and publishing two mobile apps (including the Comms Ready App) for communication professionals.
