art + entrepreneurship + technologyDeanna Reid (Chesapeake, Virginia) is a commercial/editorial/portrait photographer and entrepreneur currently residing in Phoenix, Arizona. Deanna chooses to focus her lens and perspective of human connection by exploring the intersection of race, community, art and technology. As a gateway, Deanna uses portraiture to share authentic narratives of women and men of color in various industries. Advocating for those often unseen and under celebrated. Through her company The Social Photog, she helps companies, brands, organizations, and entrepreneurs create compelling visual assets to tell/support their stories and attract targeted audiences. In 2017, Deanna formed Finding Our Light, a nonprofit organization with a goal to increase representation in the photographic arts while creating traditional and non-traditional means to educate and advance photographers of historically marginalized communities. Also co-founding Black Girl Thrive the same year, Deanna’s initiative is to curate stories and events advancing Black Women in creative and technological industries. It is Deanna’s hope to share dynamic stories with intention in order to break barriers, change minds, and inspire the lives of others.

   Black Girl Thrive is a startup organization dedicated to elevate, empower, motivate, and advocate the progression and holistic advancement of Black women.My Responsibilities: curate stories and events advancing Black women in creative and technological industries, identify creative and tech partners, oversee marketing team, develop and educate staff on company technology systems that identify our target market and track demographicsBlack Girl Thrive in Phoenix:•Develop/research unique ideas and concepts that cater to a targeted demographic (i.e. Issa Pool Party Phx: a black girl magic phx pool party and screening of the Season 2 premiere of Issa Rae\'s hit series Insecure on HBO. Picture: 100 Black women, sponsored pool floats, HBO merchandise giveaways, Miss Jessie\'s swag bags, a local Black woman owned swim line, a Black woman DJ, a live discussion/talk back. at one of Scottsdale\'s most prestigious venues, Hotel Valley Ho. Well it happened and it all started with our love for Insecure and recognizing an opportunity to provide a unique experience for a demographic that is not currently catered to in the Greater Phoenix, Arizona area.
