ABOUT DEANNA MCFADDEN

As publishing executive with over 20 years of experience in the business, my current role is VP, IP Publishing Strategy at Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, the publishing arm of Wattpad WEBTOON Studios. Over the course of my career I\'ve worked in digital publicity, digital marketing, digital content development, digital publishing, licensed publishing, and trade publishing. In my current role, I\'m responsible for the day-to-day production and editorial operations of Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group. At Joe Books, I was responsible for the day-to-day management of a $4M licensed publishing program working closely with some of the largest media companies in the world-Disney, NBC-Universal, LucasFilm, Marvel and CBS. My team consisted of eight dynamic, hard-working editors, designers, and production managers. In addition to my professional publishing career, I\'ve also written and published a number of abridged classics for kids, poetry, comics, and much more! I\'ve kept a (relatively) active blog for a number of years at and self-published a novel entitled The Work Boyfriend. Over the course of the last few years, I\'ve taught Intro to Trade Publishing at Ryerson University\'s Chang School for Continuing Education, both distance and in-classroom. As an avid reader and a dedicated book lover, it\'s been my absolute pleasure to spend my adult career working in an industry that I love.
