ABOUT DEAN J. MARIANO
With 22+ years in anesthesiology, pain management, and addiction medicine, I’ve seamlessly married clinical proficiency with impactful leadership. My credentials include the past presidency of The Connecticut Pain Society and Chair of the Connecticut State Medical Society’s Taskforce on Opioids. In these roles, I’ve been at the forefront of state and federal initiatives addressing opioid utilization. Today, I serve as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Quinnipiac University and as a Connecticut State Police Surgeon.In 2017, I transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry, drawing upon a decade’s consulting experience. My roles span leading clinical research, collaborating with CROs, overseeing medical affairs, and ensuring pharmacovigilance as the chief safety officer. My regulatory contributions include successful IND applications, NDAs, and the development of two FDA-approved drugs.Honors & Awards: • President’s Award, LRL, Sep 2023: Honored for advancing a patient-centric approach to trial design assessment. • Eli Lilly Top 100 Innovator, Dec 2020: Developed a split ventilator attachment during the COVID-19 crisis.At Lilly, as the Assoc. VP - Digital Office R&D Medical, I combine clinical insights with the transformative potential of digital health. My mandate encompasses therapeutic ecosystems, innovative healthcare solutions, and data analytics, aiming to redefine patient outcomes through digital biomarkers and clinical trial/practice transformation. I completed the CDigitalO program at CMU’s Heinz College and Tepper School of Business in March 2024. This executive education, tailored for leaders driving digital transformation, integrates information systems, public policy, and business insights. The curriculum concentrated on a deep dive into the digital ecosystem, enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency.
