I am currently part of the Strategic Leadership Team and Manager of the Business and Education Services Section in the Resource Use Directorate at Waikato Regional Council. The work the Directorate and my teams undertake is both strategic and operational. This includes collaboration and work programmes across the Council, developing and implementing new initiatives, an array of administrative tasks and a number of education functions.There are two main aspects to the work that the section undertakes. There is the business and management support functions which include consents administration, invoicing and management support. This area also identifies process improvement and undertakes training and quality assurance work. There is also the education team who seek to create a region of sustainable thinkers who take action on environmental issues. Key initiatives in this area include a WRC Rangatahi Voices youth forum, the Kura Waitī ki Kura Waitā programme, regional leadership and implementation of Enviroschools, and work being done to influence our region’s transition to a more circular economy. In December 2022 this team received the Waikato Regional Council Collaboration Award - Mahi Ngātahi. This award is one of seven given annually as part of a Council awards process.
