ABOUT DEAN JOHNSON

Senior Associate with experience in commercial contract litigation, defending personal injury claims and financial services disputes.As well as providing clients with strategic, commercial advice to resolve disputes before they escalate, I am an experienced litigator and have regularly appeared in Sheriff Courts across Scotland on behalf of insurers and commercial clients to conduct hearings and Proofs (civil trials). Proof experience includes successfully pursuing a claim arising out of a road traffic collision, defending a commercial client in a breach of contract claim and successfully obtaining orders for the recovery of goods.Recent experience includes- running a high value, complex personal injury action to Proof in the Court of Session Outer House. In a published decision, the Court of Session finally gave clarity as to whether the rules of the road apply to segregated cycle routes- the planning and implementation of a number of successful section 1 “dawn raids” on behalf of commercial clients where confidential information had been stolen by former employees- successfully obtaining a Norwich Pharmacal Order in order to trace and then recover funds intercepted by a fraudster; and - defending and reaching settlement of a complex multi-million pound personal injury claim where the client stated: “We had been hugely let down by our previous lawyers so for Dean to pick this one up late and get to a settlement which has probably saved us in excess of £1 million is a great result in what can only be described as a very sad claim. We are extremely grateful for the work you’ve done on this and other liability claims we have in Scotland.”
