DCAF is a statutory body set up by the County Council under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act The role of the Forum is to improve public access to land for the purposes of open-air recreation and enjoyment. The Devon countryside is famous for its varied and beautiful landscape and the Forum helps to ensure that opportunities for access and exploration are fully considered.The Forum is a voluntary body with 19 members, appointed following advertising, to represent land managers and owners, users of land and those with other interests. The Forum advises the local authority and other bodies on access issues and will also consider wider strategic issues such as the Rights of Way Improvement Plan.

ABOUT DEAN HOLLAND
Dean Holland is an experienced charity and public sector leader with a particular passion for children, nature and the outdoors as well as health and wellbeing. He currently leads the Discover Nature programme for Devon Wildlife Trust.His work on the Devon Countryside Access Forum, Right to Roam, housing and other campaigns and his own and not those of the trust.Dean has managed large projects, overseen organisational change with stakeholders, managed a variety of teams large and small. He has led financial oversight of budgets with income and expenditure of up to £26m per annum. He is a qualified child safeguarding officer, certified health and safety professional and experienced people manager. He also has substantial experience of both serving as a trustee and company director and working with boards of directors as a senior exeutive. He is involved in various community and environmental groups and initiatives across Devon. He has chaired national industry-goverment partnerships and represented national advisory bodies.As a management graduate of Birmigham University his management career began with a commissioning role in Welsh social services, progressed through outdoor education and middle management at Exeter University. For five years he served as DCEO and Acting CEO of the national charity Farms for City Children, founded by Michael Morpurgo.More recently his work has been within the NHS during the COVID19 pandemic, rolling out the Department for Education mental health support pilot in schools across Devon. He joined Devon Wildlife Trust in 2022 to bring his work around nature connection to his home county.When not at work, Dean\'s passions are closely linked to his love for nature and his upbringing on the family farm in Wales. He enjoys surfing, cooking, kayaking, wild swimming, gardening, allotmenteering, spearfishing, foraging and generally spending time enjoying the great outdoors with his two young children.
