Derrick grew up in New Jersey and moved to South Florida to attend Florida Atlantic University (FAU), where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a minor in Finance and a Masters of Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the state of Florida and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).Prior to joining LerroSarbey, Derrick was an Assurance Manager with the US Trust Solutions audit practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area. In that role, he worked with a wide range of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, large multinational corporations, and privately held businesses across various industries.At LerroSarbey, Derrick is a Partner in the firm’s Assurance and Risk Advisory practice. He oversees many of the firm’s largest engagements, including financial statement audits, outsourced internal audit projects, and advisory services. Derrick has extensive experience working with clients ranging from small private entities to large publicly traded companies and brings deep expertise in auditing under U.S. GAAS, accounting under U.S. GAAP and IFRS, and implementing and testing internal controls over financial reporting.
