ABOUT DEBORAH CULLEN

I’m a commercially astute legal strategist who’s spent 25+ years helping businesses scale, integrate, tidy up their legal closets—and occasionally, stage a well-timed exit (no drama, no loose ends). What that means in practice is: I help teams find balanced solutions that combine legal integrity with commercial realism. Decisions that don’t freak anyone out, tick the right boxes, and—dare I say—feel fair. Years of working at the intersection of regulation, risk and real-world legal operations have taught me how to align policies with people. No unnecessary panic, no legal overkill—just clear, grounded advice. Over my career I have assumed many roles, worn the wigs (literally—Barrister), sat in the boardroom as an FCA-authorised Executive Chair, and spent long days deep in negotiation with clients, suppliers, legal firms and other parties / stakeholders or navigating regulation across three continents. Most recently, as General Legal Counsel I have been guiding a new PE-backed business through fast growth. I translate regulatory and legal complexity into checklists, templates, playbooks and guides, and processes that busy people can use. Whether it\'s a procurement team, a compliance lead or a founder juggling three inboxes, I keep the actions simple and processes as painless as possible. Whether it’s building a scalable legal framework, smoothing out M&A bumps, or unblocking a difficult negotiation, I roll up my sleeves, bring a steady hand, and try to keep a sense of humour intact. I’ve advised conservative boards and visionary founders alike—and I’m fluent in both languages, always on the lookout for solutions to problems that can work for all stakeholders.
