ABOUT COLE CALLAHAN
I am a Mechanical Engineer currently specialized in Reliability Engineering within the industrial manufacturing industry. In my current role, I investigate mechanical and electrical equipment failures, lead root cause analyses, and collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to improve asset reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. I lead reliability improvement initiatives and maintenance projects from analysis through execution, working closely with cross-functional teams and vendors to implement sustainable solutions that improve equipment performance and lifecycle cost.I am also currently working towards my Professional Engineer accreditation so I can be one step closer to making my mark as a Professional Engineer!I am a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering and Co-op Program at McMaster University. During my degree, I pursued an area of focus in mechanics and design, as I want to help organizations develop new technologies and mechanical systems to optimize and improve their performance metrics. I also completed a minor in Business at McMaster, since I am very interested in the project management and analytical side of engineering projects.In my fourth year of undergrad, I completed a 16-month co-op at ArcelorMittal Dofasco as an Asset Engineering Coordinator in the Ironmaking department. In this role, I led many different projects that gave me plenty of experience with equipment reliability processes, design work, project management, data analysis and construction management. Throughout my work term, I was able to successfully integrate a number of my own projects and mechanical designs into the companies everyday processes to help increase productivity, mitigate health and safety risks, and improve data acquisition. At McMaster, I spent a few years on the McMaster\'s Mars Rover team. During this time, I developed strong technical design skills that gave me a passion for collaborative engineering work and the manufacturing industry. I was fortunate enough to become the Mechanical Lead in my final school year and oversaw a team of 10 Engineering students that designed a brand new rover. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and playing way too much golf!
