Dayna Hanson has been working at the intersection of dance, performance and film since 1987. She has toured her work throughout the U.S. and in Europe, including at On the Boards, Fusebox Festival, Miami Light Project, PuSh Festival, REDCAT and Noorderzon Festival. Her films have screened at festivals worldwide, including South by Southwest and New York Film Festival. Among a range of honors, Hanson received a 2017 MacDowell Colony Fellowship, a 2012 Arts Innovator Award from Artist Trust, a 2010 United States Artists Foundation Oliver Fellowship in Dance and a 2006 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in Choreography. She has received grants from NEFA/National Dance Project, MAP Fund, National Performance Network and others. Hanson recently wrote, choreographed and directed \"Voyeurs,\" a dance-based episode of the Duplass Brothers\' new anthology television series for HBO,\"Room 104.\" Hanson is currently in development on a number of film projects as well a dance piece entitled \"28 problems.\" In the past she\'s created choreography for companies such as Austin-based Rude Mechs and Pig Iron Theatre in Philadelphia. Her choreography also appears in the work of film director Tae Young Kim. With colleagues Peggy Piacenza and Dave Proscia Hanson is a co-founder of Base, a nonprofit creative residency space in Seattle. She teaches classes and workshops in choreography, performance and dance film and is available as a creative and strategic consultant for artists, arts organizations, nonprofit and corporate clients.With Gaelen Hanson, she co-directed acclaimed dance theater company 33 Fainting Spells from 19••••06, performing at Dance Theater Workshop, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Walker Art Center and dozens of other venues.
