About Daylen Hicks
CS sophomore at NC A&T State University (GPA 3.6, May 2028) — building at the intersection of AI engineering and real-world impact.Currently an LLM/Generative AI Engineer at Handshake, where I work on AI-powered tooling, integrate machine learning models into production, and help uphold ethical AI standards across cross-functional teams. This summer, I’ll be joining JMP Statistical Discovery (SAS Institute) as a Software Engineering Intern, focusing on documentation tooling with Python, Perl, and XML/DocBook.Beyond the 9-to-5, I’m a builder. I’m the founder of I Got Next — a B2B sports infrastructure platform connecting parks & rec departments, YMCAs, and gyms to manage pickup basketball communities. I also won 1st place at Hack NCAT 2026 as part of the team behind PitchPad, an AI pitch practice platform.I hold the SJECDD AI Session Certificate and stay deeply invested in the HBCU tech ecosystem — from mentoring students in Northampton County to pushing for more Black faces in rooms where technology is being built.Open to connecting with founders, engineers, and anyone building something that matters.
