About Jeffrey Day
I recently retired after 10 years as an arts and humanities writer at the University of California, Davis. I\'m currently doing and am available for arts writing. At UC Davis, I worked closely with faculty and staff of the music, theatre and dance, visual arts, design, languages, religious studies, African American, Chicano/a and Native American studies and other departments. I regularly work with he Gorman Museum (part of Native American Studies), Design Museum, Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, Mondavi Center for Performing Arts, the Humanities Institute, Shields Library, Graduate Studies and Office of Research. Before coming to UC Davis I was an independent media relations professional covering the the arts and providing media relations services for several organizations. My compelling and comprehensive materials, my expertise in all arts disciplines and my many contacts allowed me to reach a wide audience. I\'ve created press releases, website and publication content and social medial postings for ballet, visual arts and classical music organizations. I have also developed partnerships between various organizations for which I work. During that time I also wrote arts-related features, reviews and news stories for newspapers, magazines and exhibition catalogs. While I have extensive knowledge of all the arts I have particular strengths in the visual arts from ancient to contemporary and contemporary classical music. I have also curated several site specific installation art exhibitions. I was a National Arts Journalism Fellow and a National Endowment for the Arts Journalism Fellow both at Columbia University in New York. I have received several state press association awards and was winner of a Short Story Fiction Award from the South Carolina Arts Commission.
