About Renee Ed. S. Dawson
My Professional Highlights: I am extremely driven and constantly working towards accomplishing my next goal. I own and operate Design for You Learning. We provide educational technology consulting services, including community management, content creation, professional development creation and delivery, as well as keynote or conference speaking engagements. I was a Special Education Teacher for 15 years in a variety of classroom settings and grade levels. I was an Educational Technology Specialist that managed the Verizon Innovative Learning Initiative for a middle school in South Atlanta for 3 years. I was responsible for professional development and 1:1 coaching cycles for the staff. I believe in interactive, differentiated professional development where teachers use the new tech to create something relevant that they can use by the end of the session. I ran a fully inclusive Student Technology Team that achieved things above and beyond my expectations. I started and coached the Esports team, Minecraft Esports Team, and Minecraft Student Ambassadors program. I enjoy learning all the Ed Tech Tools that I can and I enjoy collecting the certification badges that come along with the learning. The certifications I have been awarded are attached in the \"Featured\" section of my page. My Why: Working in Title 1 schools in the Atlanta area is where I developed my passion for equity and a desire to work towards closing the digital divide and opportunity gap. I firmly believe that \"talent is equally distributed. Opportunity is not.\"(Leila Janah) I strive to provide opportunities to my students that will prepare them for future jobs and advanced opportunities. I practice and support anti-racism in all areas of my life, but am particularly passionate about making a positive impact by doing my part to make education equitable for all. My Creative Side: I create content for my Teachers Pay Teacher page. My content is for grades 3-7 and is geared towards meeting standards on a lower reading and math computation level to be accessible for resource special education students. My materials usually include multiple differentiated levels of activities. I am a self-taught digital designer and do that to unwind and relax.
