About Dawnne Howarth
Passionate about the intersection of science and technology, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Master of Science in Biology, both earned at Georgian Court University. My academic journey continued with a Master of Chemistry in Materials and Chemical Synthesis from the Illinois Institute of Technology. With a diverse background, I\'ve worked in environmental chemistry (EPA and NJDEP methods), pharmaceutical chemistry (processing), biotechnical chemistry (drug discovery), and agricultural chemistry (pesticide, herbicide, insecticide, fungicide residue detection). This rich experience laid the foundation for my later work in clinical laboratory settings. I pursued clinical laboratory studies at Eastern Florida State College and would like to have the opportunity to advance my knowledge in this field. With a desire to explore other fields, I was told to try education and see how I liked teaching. My journey began with an exciting transition, where I served as a long-term substitute teacher in two New Jersey school districts, focusing on English Language Arts and special education. This experience extended to teaching in an inner-city K-12 district, providing me with invaluable insights and a broader perspective on educational needs. Although I embarked on the path towards alternate route certification, completing stage I, my journey took a different turn due to a variety of factors, including personal health challenges. Alongside my educational career, I passionately taught swimming and lifeguard certification classes and worked as a lifeguard at two facilities. Though being unable to work anymore, my commitment to education remains unwavering. I actively keep abreast of the latest advancements in the field, particularly the integration of AI into education, a topic that deeply interests me and underscores the evolving nature of teaching and learning. Currently, I am dealing with Stage IV melanoma, non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis, a rare kidney disease and am considered disabled. This has impacted my contacts on LinkedIn, including being blocked by someone I cared about because they feel, “I am in a bad place.” Despite these challenges, I believe I can still be a worthwhile volunteer contributor to the fields I have worked in. As a proud member of MENSA, I thrive on intellectual challenges, wishing to contribute my skills to the ever-evolving landscape of innovation. Known for my analytical mindset, I am always seeking the \"why\" behind things, delving into the intricacies of causes and effects.
