ABOUT DAWN MACKENZIE

I have witnessed firsthand the massive impact a good educator can have on a student’s life and career trajectory. Raised in a family dedicated to public service and teaching, I deliver high-quality programming, cross-organizational partnerships, and innovative opportunities that give everyone—from career veterans to first-time participants—a chance to grow professionally, expand their educational horizons, and flourish in their careers.Over the past 20 years, I have built two equally important and impactful careers in the higher education and equestrian communities. As such, I draw from multiple industry perspectives to develop more effective solutions that existing stakeholders might never consider, while also thinking critically about current operations and systems so we may improve them over time.Career At-a-Glance: Throughout my tenure at MIT Sloan, I have delivered effective, multidisciplinary programs, pathways, and projects that support our mission of developing principled innovative leaders who improve the world. To date, I have made meaningful contributions to MIT’s programs for student experience, events, curriculum development, leadership evolution, and administrative operations. Concurrent with my career in higher education, I also achieved highly influential leadership roles at prominent regional and national organizations that promote responsible practices in dressage, especially at competitions, in training, and in breeding programs. My work to create, promote, and enhance opportunities in the equestrian community has been recognized with multiple prestigious awards. Driving change in a huge, complex, and geographically distributed organization requires the concerted efforts of hundreds of diverse stakeholders. One of my most valuable strengths is building strong relationships, curiosity for multiple avenues of learning, and understanding across cultures. These networks allow us to make iterative improvements that benefit us all. Whether I’m focusing on university or equine activities, I am known for my reliability and positivity in times of stress and tension, ability to plan and execute complex projects at high levels, effective problem-solving skills, and commitment to honesty in all communications.
