About Dawn Williams

Dr. Dawn J. Williams is an aspiring motivated achiever who is recognized for performance excellence, integrity and innovation with best practices thru disciplined attention in achieving immediate and long term goals and objectives. As a higher education professional she has a passion for students and their success as they matriculate towards graduation and meeting the demands of this changing world. She has held numerous positions since receiving her terminal degree in the summer of 2009 from Jackson State University. Some of these positions have been, Interim Dean of Students, Director of Career and Professional Development. Interim Asst.Vice President of Student Affairs and adjunct faculty in Public Health and in the Department of Education and Psychological studies. These positions have required her to be a self-starter, multi-tasker, organized and a true team player. Dr. Williams is an articulate communicator, expert at engaging audiences and conveying information with clarity and effectiveness. Her volunteer activities on and off campus are many from Girl Scouts of America, to AARP.Additional, Dr. Williams has worked in collaboration with neighboring institutions in New Orleans to \"Take Back the Night\", an international movement that advocates on behalf of women aganist violence. She has over 12 years of higher education experience which includes grant writing, working with first year students, and direct supervision of many areas in Student Affairs. She has prsented at the First Year Experience Conference, where she shared her research on First Year Students and how to provide counseling, guidance, and support to disadvantaged and first generation college students.She is data driven with a personal touch of always looking at the underlining causes of what the challenges are. Her professional leadership trainings, include but are not limited to united way Project Blue Print, Leadership America, the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education. She is also recognized for her passion and cutting edge practices in public health. She has held many public health positions in the city and state.
