ABOUT DAWN MATHESON

Dawn is a multimedia artist with a socially-engaged practice often co-creating within diverse populations living with difference or disability through the medium of video, installation and sound. She has a long history of collaborative story-making in partnership with community, academic institutions, national broadcasters, art galleries, social service networks with the aim of combating isolation and inciting social change by bringing people together. RECENT: Currently she is a multimedia producer for a national mental health promotion research project through KDE Hub, located at University of Waterloo; a co-artist with a collaborative Sound Sculpture workshop with CNIB; artistic director of 3-year nationally funded arts project called HOW TO DRAW A TREE (trees, mental health and creativity). She edits multiple podcasts for the University of Guelph, recently completed a social practice project through Ontario Arts Council bringing together seniors living in poverty with at-risk youth, and collaborated on a multimedia dance production.
