I am thrilled to share that I am the new Development Manager for COMPASS Refugee Centre! At COMPASS we want to be the warm blanket that wraps around people seeking refuge in our Region and beyond. How?Assist:o Border Right Clinic: Pro bono lawyers help people seeking refuge at the border, nation-wide! Improving access to justice, they help people understand their rights and eligibility. o Caseworkers: provide caring support as claimants navigate complex processes and systems.Accompany:o Helping people thrive through the pathways to well-being and belonging. What does that look like? Referrals to support and guidance with family reunification.Advocate: o Encourage welcoming community through bridge-building and educating for change where there are barriers. o With respect and conviction, speak up for equitable engagement with people seeking refuge.At times, the world can be scary and dangerous, and for some, and there is no choice but to flee. That’s why I support COMPASS, a knowledgeable guide through the refugee process - the bright light on the horizon, representing safety, welcome and home!
