About Chloe Davis
Chloe Davis is a post-baccalaureate ORISE research fellow at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). She is a first-generation graduate and received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in anthropology from Davidson College in 2023. Chloe’s journey into research began in 2020, when a recurring summer internship in her hometown of Tampa, FL, allowed her to evaluate neurotoxicity and disease progression across various regions of interest in rodent brain tissue. Her interest in human studies then led to two international research projects as she sought to elucidate the impacts of Airbnb on sustainable development in Bocas del Toro, Panama, and later assess the effects of volunteer tourism on the emotional well-being of host communities in Buikwe, Uganda. This fusion of natural and social science experiences has fueled her passion for public health research and has supported her current toxicology-focused EPA projects as she examines the impacts of environmental pollutants on maternal health and fetal development. She hopes to continue using her interdisciplinary background to understand the mechanisms, interactions, and effects of social x biological factors in the development of chronic diseases. Chloe is deeply passionate about community engagement and supporting students, as can been seen by her extensive experience with K-12 and undergraduate mentorship, tutoring/teaching, and volunteering. Since joining the EPA, Chloe has devoted her free time to serving as a CE-STEM outreach volunteer, the President of EPA’s Networking and Leadership Training Organization, and most recently, as the newly appointed Undergraduate Student Representative for the North Carolina Chapter of the Society of Toxicology. She will be pursuing a Ph.D. in the Integrated Biosciences program at North Carolina Central University this upcoming Fall. ORCiD ID:
