About Davis Riley
My first work experience was as a ski instructor at Stratton Mountain in Vermont in 2016. This job taught me how to deal with people from various backgrounds and ages while growing my leadership qualities. In my first season as an instructor, I received the best young instructor award, which is awarded annually to the best first-year instructor. I have worked there for the past six years and received my PSIA level 1 certification. I also worked as a sailing instructor for the previous two years and received my level 1 certification for this as well. Similarly to my experience as a ski instructor, I learned how to communicate with peers and deal with difficult situations arising from customers. In high school, I was a leading member of my school\'s DECA club, and in college, I joined the Financial Services Club, the Business World of Sports Club, and the Ski Club. These clubs have refined my interest in finance and have helped guide me to connections within Kelley. As well, I volunteered with a non-profit organization called Level The Field in which we supplied underserved communities with soccer and other after-school opportunities. During the summer of my freshman year I interned at Manatuck Hill Partners, a long equity hedge fund in Westport, Connecticut there I summarized earnings calls and relayed summaries to top-level analysts and traders to aid their investment decisions while also monitoring stock developments in analyst calls focusing on the restaurant and medical sectors. This previous summer, I interned at Woodson Capital Management, a long-short equity hedge fund focused on consumer discretionary investments. At Woodson, I created complex financial models to aid the Investment Team in their decision-making. As well, I wrote buy, short, and hold recommendations that I presented for the investment team. My greatest qualities are my leadership, work ethic, and my passion for my work. My leadership has been shaped throughout my work experiences. I understand that I need to lead differently for different people and different situations. I pride myself on my work ethic as I feel that to make my best work I need to work as hard as possible. I\'m extremely passionate about my work and I like to make it show by it being extremely thorough.
