About David Wachtenheim

David Wachtenheim is a Director and Animator who began his career in his native Los Angeles on the animated motion picture Rover Dangerfield before moving to New York. His past animation work on television commercials has won numerous awards for clients including Converse, Pacific Bell, Mitsubishi, Hallmark, Levi’s, Nike, Hewlett Packard and Volkswagen and he has vividly brought to life the art of many well-known illustrators, such as Garry Trudeau, Peter DeSeve, David Levine, Gary Baseman, Barry Blitt and the legendary Al Hirschfeld. He has also worked as a storyboard artist on Cartoon Network’s Courage the Cowardly Dog and Code Name: Kids Next Door.Shortly after forming a partnership with Robert Marianetti in W/M Animation became the premiere animation studio for Saturday Night Live’s TV Funhouse, created by Robert Smigel and they served as Animation Creative Directors and Producers for Mr. Smigel’s TV Funhouse series airing on Comedy Central. In 20••••05 they Directed 13 episodes of the series Stroker and Hoop for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. The studio has been Producing and Directing award winning animation for a growing list of clientele that includes: Cartoon Network, Fox TV, Universal, Disney/ABC, ESPN, Comedy Central, NBC, Coca Cola, Kraft, LG, Wheel of Fortune, Curious Pictures, Finra, Acme Filmworks, ZAnimation, Playboy, New York Magazine, KingWorld, Warner Brothers and Sesame Workshop.David Wachtenheim served as co-writer and co-director as well as co-songwriter for the HBO film My Depression based on the picture book by Elizabeth Swados. He was a contributing story artist for the films Henry & Me and Despicable Me and currently is serving as Co-Head of Story on Hotel Transylvania 2 for Sony Pictures Animation.
