I’m an experienced digital media leader obsessed with delivering news better, and a fan of big swings, rolling with the punches, and occasionally mixing sports metaphors. Some highlights: • As the Newsletters Director at Torstar, I led the editorial, marketing, and product initiatives that built readers’ inboxes into a pillar of their digital subscription and advertising businesses. • Among those initiatives: First Up, the Toronto Star’s flagship morning newsletter, which I launched in April 2020 and methodically grew into a daily email that is read more than anything else we produce online in any form. • Over my career, I’ve led editorial, audience, product, and strategy at strivers, startups, and upstarts, turning fledgling digital outlets into contenders and transforming established print titles into online powerhouses. • I’m also a trusted advisor to journalists (as a mentor with the Canadian Association of Journalists) and smaller publications on both sides of the border (as a consultant and coach in my spare time).
