As a Director and Head of Legal Aid my role is to ensure that the company is providing an outstanding service to our legal aid clients. A large focus is placed upon the ongoing internal training we provide to our draftsmen to enable them to keep up to date with all the latest legal aid developments and guidance. It is this extensive knowledge base that allows us to be able to deal with our clients\' costing requirements and advise on ways that they can improve billing efficiency and maximise their costs.

I believe it is essential for a legal aid Costs Draftsman to not only prepare accurate claims / bills of costs but to also be able to advise firms regarding ways that they can make their billing processes more efficient and to ensure that they are up to date with the latest Legal Aid Agency Guidance. Rejected claims adversely affect KPIs and delay payment, and the requirements of the Legal Aid Agency frequently change. A good knowledge of current guidance also ensures that you are not doing work that you won\'t get paid for.
