A Chartered Mechanical Engineer with wide-ranging experience in wind energy, and a track record of ensuring that challenging objectives are achieved safely, backed by proven abilities in project management, leadership and communication. While working for SgurrEnergy, I have applied my previous experience of designing systems and managing work to the highest standards of safety and health performance, to the emerging challenges in offshore wind. Key projects have included- Leading the WTG package in the Owner\'s Engineer team for a major offshore windfarm; this included detailed technology assessment and support on bankability and TSA issues- Mechanical engineering support for development of new wind farms, and due diligence (construction monitoring and acquisitions)- Mechanical design, H&S, installation and commissioning support for an offshore meteorological mast and LiDAR construction project- Helping WTG manufacturers fulfil health and safety requirements in design and operation for UK wind farms (onshore and offshore.)- Leading the preparation of the current RenewableUK Offshore Wind and Marine Energy H&S, Onshore H&S guidelines and the G9 Offshore Wind Work at Height guidelinesThis work has given direct experience of all current major WTG manufacturers\' products, including some of the next generation of offshore WTGs.Prior to working in renewable energy, I spent around 10 years in a variety of engineering roles in process / manufacturing industry, then completed an MSc in Renewable Energy Development, with a particular focus on marine renewables. This complemented my engineering background with understanding the economic, environmental, resource and regulatory aspects of renewable energy, and was motivated by the recognition that the challenges of renewable energy involve more than just the technology.
